Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
